Wick Woodland Easter Egg hunt

Easter Saturday, 3rd April 2010

All ages welcome. Come for a walk or to gather Easter eggs in the woodland and learn about plants and wildlife with Sarah Peacock. Activity packs for children provided. Adults welcome to come for a walk in the fresh air and see the spring plants in the woods.

Meet at the Boulder, Mabley Green at 2pm. The walk will take around 2 hours in total.

Buxhall Bee Library / Book Swap

BOOK SWAP

The Buxhall Bee Library is now open!

Following a suggestion from a Buxhall resident, Lucy Harrison has created a library / book swap in the Community Room,
Block 16-23 Buxhall Crescent.

A good selection of books is now in the community room, including fiction by Julian Barnes, Mikhail Bulgakov, Donna Leon, Armistead Maupin, Ian Rankin, John Steinbeck, as well as non-fiction, cookery and DIY books.

Residents can come at the following times (or by appointment) to swap their own books that they no longer want. The only rule is that some kind of reading material must be left in exchange for the one you are taking. If you have any books you’re getting rid of, why not bring them down and let your neighbours share them?

NB: the Library does not yet stock children’s books, donations are welcome.

To access the room from outside, knock on the door of block 16-23 or on the window to the left of the door.

Planting workshop 14th November

Many thanks to Sarah Peacock who ran a great bulb planting workshop on 14th November. We planted mixed daffodils inside the pots and topped them off with pansies. Some of the pots can be seen outside block 16-23 Buxhall Crescent and on the steps of the Community Centre. All ages welcome. Do you have a favourite outfit or want to show off your football kit? Local photographer James Robertshaw will take your portrait for the Buxhall Bee newspaper, you will also receive a free copy.

2pm-4pm Gardens & Balconies photos and interviews

If you’ve got a great garden or balcony, get in touch and Lucy and James will come and photograph it for the Buxhall Bee newspaper. (weather permitting)

BUXHALL BEE NEWSPAPER
The Buxhall Bee newspaper will be designed and produced by Lucy Harrison during the next few months. It will include features and information about Buxhall residents’ hobbies, interests and skills, plus anything else you’d like to share with other people. It can’t happen without you!

MUSIC EXCHANGE
Lucy will be collecting your favourite tracks to put together a Buxhall Playlist for the end of the project.

RECIPE SWAP
What’s your favourite recipe? Doesn’t matter how simple or difficult to make, send it in to be included in a special recipe edition of the Buxhall Bee newsletter.

Guided walks & Nature Trails
A series of guided walks and nature trails are being planned, get in touch to get updates

What’s your hobby?
Do you have an interesting hobby? Are you ace at knitting or great at singing? Whatever it is, get in touch to include it in the newspaper.

Communal Lunch
Towards the end of the project there will be a communal lunch where residents will be invited to share food and drink and get to know neighbours.

Lucy Harrison is a Hackney-based artist whose recent projects include The Stratford Grapevine, an alternative free newspaper containing articles by and about people in Stratford, given away in the station to passers-by as part of the Art on the Underground programme.
